HISTORY
In the beginning there was a vision:
To create a home where people receive the care they need and where staff is able to provide services in the German language, if residents so desire.
In order to reach this goal the German Canadian Benevolent Society of BC was founded in 1965.

In 1969, the German Canadian Care Home was built on its present site at 2010 Harrison Drive in Vancouver. When the Home originally opened, its intended purpose was to provide “personal care” services for senior citizens. Over the years it became apparent that more services were required and, with that in mind, the Care Home joined the B.C. Long Term Care Program in 1978.
The German Canadian Care Home is a two storey facility providing care to 137 residents. Since its original construction, the Home has undergone numerous renovations to enhance its homelike environment and functionality.
Beautiful gardens surround the Care Home and the many outdoor courtyards are connected by paved walkways. In 1979 the German Canadian Care Home was the first long term care facility in B.C. to receive an Accreditiation award from the "Accreditiation Canada".
The facility has since continued to maintain its Accreditiation.
