Moving into a care facility is often a difficult time for the client and their family. Staff at the German-Canadian Care Home tries to lessen the stress families experience by providing a warm and welcoming environment, adequate information, and quality care for our residents. We welcome your questions and feedback.

In order to help you with preparing for the move into our Home, we have compiled a recommended clothing list.

Women

  • 4 dresses or skirts/blouses or pant suits
  • 3 slips
  • 6 panties
  • 6 pairs of socks or stockings
  • 3 bras
  • 1 or 2 pairs of supportive, non-slip walking shoes
  • 1 housecoat
  • 3 pairs of pajamas or 3 nighties
  • 2 or 3 washable sweaters
  • 1 coat
  • Hat
  • Personal toiletries

Men

  • 4 shirts
  • 4 undershirts, 6 undershorts
  • 4 pair of washable pants
  • 6 pairs of socks
  • 1 or 2 airs of washable non-slip walking shoes
  • 3 pairs of pajamas
  • 2 suspenders or belts
  • 2 or 3 washable sweaters
  • 1 coat or jacket
  • Tie, hat
  • Electric razor
  • Personal toiletries

The resident rooms are furnished with a bed and night table. Residents may bring some furniture. We ask that you check with staff prior to bringing in any furniture.

Because of the risk of falls carpets or area rugs are not to be used at the German-Canadian Care Home.
