An in-house rehabilitation department works five days a week. The team includes two occupational therapists, one physiotherapist and several rehabilitation aides.
This team conducts a thorough assessment of each resident to form the basis of their individual rehabilitation plan. Typical plan goals include: restoring mobility and independence, self-care skills, mobility skills, transfer training, fall prevention, seating and positioning for appropriate wheelchairs and adaptive equipment, appropriate mattresses, pain management and swallowing assessments.
Social Work Services
A full-time Social Worker helps with our residents’ transition into life at the Home and assists them and their families with social, emotional or financial challenges. She provides referrals to community resources and also advocates on their behalf.
The spiritual care program supports residents and their families spiritually and emotionally. There are regular church services, Bible study sessions, hymn-singing events and celebrations of life. We also offer non-traditional spiritual programs that involve art, music and nature. Our resident population is ethnically diverse and the Director of Recreation can help organize culturally relevant spiritual practices upon request.
Recreation, Music and Art Therapies
The recreation team engages our residents to identify and realize their interests, wishes and aspirations. We offer bus trips, music programs, German and English sing-a-longs, music and art therapy, games, crafts, trivia, bingo, baking, gardening, exercise programs and a multitude of special and seasonal events.
